Here is the recap of the July 19 edition of Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).
Thanks to our guests via phone, Rick Klinger and Robert Scott Richardson of Hybrid Ice (www.hybridice.net). We got caught up on Hybrid Ice 2009, previewed what Altoona area fans can expect when the group makes their area return this Thursday at the Lakemont Park Wing-Off, and checked out tunes from the group’s new CD, Mind’s Eye. We also highlighted two past songs from Hybrid Ice for Local Music Flashbacks. In addition, we updated Local Music News; played a new song by Days Before Tomorrow, and reviewed Iroquois Confederacy’s The Left-Handed Peace Pipe CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

In Local Music News…
Mysterytrain keyboard player and singer Gina Riggio has released her first official solo CD. The disc is called Ultraviolet Catastrophe, and is available online and at Mysterytrain shows. Gina unveiled the CD at a special CD-release event earlier this month at Bar Bleu in State College.
Meanwhile, Gina and her bandmates in Mysterytrain will entertaining blood donors this Monday during the Red Cross’ annual Grateful Blood Drive at Altoona’s Jaffa Shrine.
The “Homegrown Rocker” extends speedy recovery wishes to Kyx keyboard player Terry Wills. Terry is recuperating from serious injuries suffered in a recent motorcycle accident. Kyx will continue to perform without a keyboard player until Terry recovers.
