Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the June 28 edition of Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).
We knew it was going to be a hard-hitting two hours when Spirit Lost drummer Lisa Fazenbaker earned her new nickname of “Crash” by tapping her bandmates’ fender while wheeling her car into the Underground Television studio parking lot! Thanks to Lisa and Spirit Lost (www.spiritlost.com) for a fun, entertaining and interesting two hours, as we learned the band’s latest happenings and checked out tunes from their first full-length CD, The New Beginning. Congratulations to the four lucky listeners who phoned in to win their own copies! In addition, we updated Local Music News; played new songs by Ted McCloskey, This Calling and On The Run, reviewed Coilcell’s self-titled CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” and flashed back to 1991 to hear a tune by Pittsburgh’s Raquel for a Local Music Flashback.
Here is this week's playlist:

The area music scene is mourning the death of Dave Nearhoof last Sunday after a lengthy illness. He was 56. Dave played guitar and bass for several area bands from the '70s through '90s, including Skye and Excalibur.
The second annual FarmJammaLamma benefit concert and festival will take place this coming weekend near Brookville. FarmJammaLamma will run Friday and Saturday on a farm site near Brookville, and proceeds from the event will benefit the Beautiful Smiles Foundation of Pennsylvania, a nonprofit organization that provides dental care to people who cannot afford it. The music runs from 11 AM to late night both days, and will feature performances from such names as The Rustlanders, Fourth River, The Big Dirty, Jazzam, Cadillac and the Devilles, Smoke Signals and more. For tickets and other information, visit the website www.farmjammalamma.com.
And a band that used to grace Altoona area stages in the early ‘90s is getting back together for a reunion show. The Clarion-based band Ask A Stranger is reuniting for the first time in several years with a show in Emlenton (near Kittanning) on July 11.
