Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the June 21 edition of Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).
In honor of Father’s Day, we celebrated local and regional music family traditions on this week’s program. We spotlighted various fathers, mothers, sons and daughters of the area music scene by featuring songs involving those musical parents, kids, and often both on the same song! Along the way, we updated Local Music News, and in conjunction with one of the stories we reported, featured a song from 1984 by the Sterling Cooke Force for a Local Music Flashback! We also played new songs by Halestorm and The Clover, and reviewed Four Day Crawl’s Overdue CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

Due to complications arising from the recent fire that destroyed The Anchor Inn near Prince Gallitzin State Park, local progressive heavy rockers The Grimm have cancelled their second annual Ride for Hope benefit motorcycle ride and concert. The day-long event, which was to raise money for the American Cancer Society, was slated to take place at the Anchor Inn in early August. The Grimm explained that they don’t have time to promote and organize the event at another venue at this late juncture. The group is hopeful about resuming the Ride For Hope event next year.
Pittsburgh power pop rockers The Composure parted ways with guitarist Jesse Hall this past week. Matt Fuchs is currently filling in on show dates while The Composure seeks a permanent replacement.
“Homegrown Rocker” frequent flyer guest Sterling Koch has been contacted by noted British film director and documentary maker Karl Nolan, who is filming a documentary on the renowned English heavy metal record label Ebony Records. Sterling's band from the ‘80s, The Sterling Cooke Force, was signed to the record label from 1984 to 1986 and released one record called Full Force worldwide. The album made it onto the charts in several countries and also garnered some good reviews from the European press. Sterling has been working closely with Nolan to assist in gathering information and pictures about the band and the label. The documentary is scheduled to be shown on BBC television in the U.K. as well as MTV Europe. It will also be released on DVD with an accompanying 500 page book.
