I have an 89 chevy caprice. messed up the front left weel spindle by hitting a curb. Mechanic wants $500 dollars to get part, repair, inspection and ( according to them) replace the front tire, which is fine, they say it's a different size and needs a new one for inspection.(?) Looks the same to me...
Am I getting hosed?

Did you read the number on the tire and see if it is the same as the other side!? Just eye-balling does not tell ya anything!
$500 at todays prices is probably reasonable! $500 today is our days $100

89 chevy caprice... are you black?
The problem is that when you replace this you usually have to replace more shit... it's actually a good idea if you want your car to keep running...
The parts are cheap.. the labor is a bitch.....
I needed to replace my Audi wheel bearing RR... Found the part online and found someone cool enough not jack me for time.. whole thing cost me 120 bucks....
Found the part for far less than most places have it. so FU CHAIN STORE DICKHOLE!
look around online... you can get away with doing it yourself but then the alignment could be messed up....
