Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the April 12 edition of Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).
Thanks to our guests this week, Chris Vipond, Phil Wagner and Harold Taddy of Chris Vipond and the Stanley Street Band (www.myspace.com/chrisvipond). It was an interesting two hours as we updated the Street Band, and heard tunes from the group’s new self-titled CD. We also featured a song from Harold, who has also completed work on his new CD. We also debuted new tunes from Brad Yoder, T.J. Cornwall and Zelazowa; and flashed back to 1991 for a Local Music Flashback from Johnny Al, Kevin Bruce & the L.A. Street Band! We updated Local Music News; and we reviewed Billy Price & Fred Chapellier’s Night Work CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” Again, another busy week!
Here is this week's playlist:

In Local Music News…
A special benefit concert has been organized for Memorial Day Weekend to help out two area youngsters who have recently been the victims of unfortunate circumstances. “Rock and Roll for the Reed Boys” will take place on Sunday, May 24, at 30 Something in Greenwood. Proceeds from the benefit will go to the Korbin Reed Fund. The all ages show starts at 1 p.m., and will feature performances from the bands FedUP, Samara, The Embalmed, Bad Daze, A Fight With Sledgehammers, Dick Shack Posse and Slacker Theory. Donation at the door for adults will be either a $10 donation or $5 and a toy suitable for a 2-4 year old boy. The admission will be $5 for kids ages 6 to 12, and free for kids 5 and under. There will be door prizes, plus a chance to win a custom guitar from JDR Guitars.
Updating you on two previous benefits, more than $1,100 was raised for the St. Vincent Depaul Food Kitchen during last weekend’s annual Jeff Wallack Tribute Show at Aldo’s in Juniata. That show featured performances from Half Tempted, a reunion of Altoona ‘80s rock band The Edge, and the debut of Lights Out, featuring Half Tempted plus Steve Oswalt on vocals and Phil Steele on keys. More than $1,100 was also raised for the American Cancer Society during Saturday night’s all-ages concert at Altoona’s Eldolyn Terrace, sponsored by the Altoona Area High School CLIP 10 students. That show featured performances from Acalasia, Nick Finochio, Clan McGregor, Half Tempted and Lights Out.
More band personnel changes to report this week…Local bluegrassers Mama Corn have a new bass player, as Kelly Montgomery replaces Brett Fanelli. Kelly made his official debut with Mama Corn during Saturday night’s bluegrass concert with the Hillbilly Gypsies at the Altoona Ramada.
