Luckily there are about 1.5 million people out of work that can fill those positions.

Unfortunately, strikes these days are rarely beneficial. The employees will not be elible for UC benefits during the strike, although they would be eligible if replacement employees are hired by AT&T. Still, generally, the employees lose enough on the strikes, that it will take years to benefit if and most likely when negotiations are reached. It makes a great threat.... but its pretty stupid to actually do it for an extended period of time.

Got my strike schedule today! This shit is goin down. Unfortunately ATT want to reduce pay while they made record profits last year. Persionally, i'm the guy that fixes the problems when you call in...I understand the market is just terrible out there these days...but our job doesn't need a bailout...infact , we signed up 2 million new customers last quarter... att pushed contract negotiations from last august to this feb...they concided with verizon(same union as us) , yet they won't play ball with ATT... In this volatile time, jobs must be protected especially if the company is recording record profits.... Here's yesterdays link: thirdpipe.com/2009/02/07/cwa-to-walk-off-att-mobility/

And no, they cannot replace our jobs with scabs, as it requires more than a half a years training just to get to the beginer customer service level... The Harrisburg HQ houses everyone from national tech support, customer relations(save) , and cstmer service teams that mainly service tennessee, florida, ny, ca, great lake regions(misouri, illinois, michigan, wisconsin), south /north dakota, louisiana, texas, colorado, nevada...etc...
thats alot...
there are about 500 people that work at this location (roughly)...
20,000 will strike nationwide..
