Hello Everyone... Please be sure to share this message...
1st Ever SPCA Battle of the band, with Crafts, Yard Sale, Live music, and more….
THIS WILL BE HELD AT MORNING STAR MARKET IN THOMASVILLE, PA OFF RT 30 WEST WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN SEVERAL ACRES TO WORK WITH AND OUR OWN AREA. I want to thank Thomasville Market for their gracious donation to the cause.
I am trying to get a Really FUN and SUPER GREAT family fundraiser together for the local SPCA.
The Idea at this time, is to sort of get the next BATTLE OF THE BANDS going, The Band or vocalist, plays for an Hour or Two, and then right on to the next band. Their time would be DONATED, so lets hear it for the music person! (Still looking for a few good sound man with a heart to lend their time, experience and equipment.
I did this in Maryland, for a fund raiser for the local fire house, everyone loved it. It was a blast. But then I had 14 bands going, in three different areas on my property. We raised over $2,000. Maybe if it goes well next year, we can do it at the York Fair Grounds, lets just say this is a test run...
We are hoping to have lots of food vendors (maybe a good pizza delivery type franchise) plus much more, The retail vendor should be willing to donate like a $1 per-slice of pizza (selling them for $2 a slice), or donate a flat $100 for the day to set up and sell.
Maybe the home baker, would like to come out and sell, we know everyone loves home baked goods.... For the average person (non-company or franchise), I would like to get a donation of at least $20 for setting up ($15 goes back to Morning Star $5 goes to the cause).
All vendors are responsible for their area and to bring their tables to set up with, and clean up before they leave.
I am hoping to even get some local artist, the local crafter, Heck even offer Yard sale/Flea Market spaces. The more the merrier, Just be family minded and willing to sponsor a space. Also please be sure to plan on taking home your own trash and cleaning up after yourselves please,
The key is if we can drawl a good crowd, maybe get some new homes for the wonderful animals along with much needed money and supplies. Of course any type of donations for the local SPCA would be great.
Maybe a table can be set up for the wish list item, or small cash donation.
We can raffle off any baskets or donations given to us to use as door prizes.
Donations can be as small as a can of dog food or as large as the sky, our guest knows what they can afford to do, and still help us out, while coming out to enjoy a great family day. Food, Music, Crafts AND MORE.... no one is here to judge anyone. Maybe someone would like to do characters drawings, or face painting for the kids. Clowns always welcome....
I am sure if we can get enough people working on this together, we can even get a news crew or two out there, maybe even find some free Radio and Newspaper coverage before and even after the event.
I will be asking the local corvette club to also support this fund raiser, and bring out the cars...Do you belong to a nice group, motorcycles, muscle cars, hot rods, that may want to help us out and show their cars?
So Let's try and get Your Name Out, and thank you in advance, to all the Bands and solo Musicians, willing to help..
It will be a blast, while helping the SPCA.
PS. I will need help with this even if your not setting up a space, or playing...so if you would like to volunteer your time please let me know. I have managed to cement the date Sept 20th and time 8-4,(along with a rain date sept 27), once I see what bands can help me out the bands should be able to play starting at 9am till 4. I have a friend that has an amusement company; he is donating some items for the kids to play, and sharing any proceeds with the SPCA.
Well again here's the dates again Sept 20th with a rain date of the 27th of Sept. This falls during PA WEEK FOR THE ANIMALS and the SPCA is really excited about all the fun family things I am working on with other volunteers.... please email me with any questions, but we are working it. I have tentatively 2 bands, looking for at least 4 more, amusement rides are being donated, and more.... so come on and join is...
Just a FYI...My travel agency has 3 other agents. My personal sight is
travelingwithgail.com
I personally already offer 5% of my commission back as a donation for any and all items booked.
All I ask is that right after anything is booked, the person, emails me, and tells me who they are, when they are going away, sending flowers, or taking a hunting trip.. so I can be on the lookout for my commission, and forward the 5% to the SPCA, when I do get it (just a FYI, it can take up to 120 days after the services have been completed for my commissions to come in). Please ask me about the details (I also offer this service to all other non-profits. A family reunion, never looked so Sweet, sending flowers, going fishing, going hunting...and more...what a way to show your non-profit, you care.
I know I want to be able to share, how about you?
Gail
**I am hoping to have a meeting for "volunteers" and Vendors or may I say "enlisted men/Women" one Monday evening about 8 in York off Rt 30, maybe the back room in Denny’s.... depends on the amt of people coming. so let me know....
