Little Buffalo State Park in Newport is the setting for the 1st annual SuBeLex Memorial Walk and Festival to benefit Mothers Against Drunk Driving taking place on Saturday June 14, 2008. This All Age event begins at 8:30am with opening ceremonies, a walk a thon ending at the park where the festivities begin at 10am and run until 7:40. Closing ceremonies at approximately 6:45.
The days events are comprised of a FREE TO THE PUBLIC 9 band concert, kids activities including pony rides, a bouncy house, clowns, face painting, dime pitch, fish pong, FREE arts and crafts; raffles and givewayas. Also in attendance will be Holy Spirit Hospital with a Health and Safety Education area, PA State Police Domestic Violence info area and PA DUI Association Memory Wall.
Lots of delicious food to enjoy. The New Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Company will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ, sausage and soup. Other vendors include popcorn, pizza, sno cones, funnel cakes and soft serve ice cream. New Bloomfield will also have their fire truck on site. WQXA 105.7 The X personalities announcing the bands all day.
Team SuBeLex is a group of family and friends, who through a senseless act of drunk driving, became victims/survivors. On October 14, 2002 . Three generations were lost and one little boy left paralyzed when one person chose to drink and drive. They are now fighting to raise awareness on the dangers of drunk driving and to promote designated drivers. And plan to promote the importance of having designated drivers by renting billboards, starting a designated driver program and building a scholarship fund for seniors in area schools.
