Anyone catch this story out of Ohio? hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/O/ODD_DIPLOMA_FATHER_JAILED?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2008-05-13-16-44-03Yes, folks. We apparently live in a country where a man can be sentenced to 6 months in jail because his daughter failed to graduate from high school. What makes the story even more bizarre is the fact that the guy's daughter was living with the mother, not him, at the time! This is just the latest example of unfair treatment towards men and fathers. Good thing the daughter didn't come home with a nose ring, or the judge probably would've sentenced the poor guy to the gas chamber. Any American citizen with a penis should be greatly concerned about the road that we are traveling down as a nation. Men have stood around watching while our rights are being stripped away, unwilling and unable to make a stand. Yet all we hear and all that we have heard since the 1960's is how unfair and unequal women are treated in this country! Maybe we should get our heads out of our collective asses and stop worrying about "human rights violations" in places like China and Myanmar, and turn our eyes towards the raping of the judicial system right here at home. I guess I should stop ranting before someone reads this post and puts me on trial for sedition. If a guy can get sentenced to 6 months of hard time because of the actions (or inactions) of his daughter, there's probably also a good chance that anyone who questions the system will be put in front of a firing squad at dawn.

Maybe zendog is finally waking up to the fact that there's something going seriously wrong in this country.

There is indeed something seriously and fundamentally wrong with this country. The America of today is hardly the same America as it was when I was growing up, much less the America which was envisioned by our founding fathers. Call me crazy, but I think we are indeed in the final days of our country's lifespan. By the time our grandchildren come along, they'll be living in Mexamericanada. By the time their children come along, who knows. Rome is burning, my friends, Rome is burning.

perhaps some sheep will have a rally with picket signs...
*yawn*
move along, nothing to see here...
not a -damn- thing is going to happen until the few with the balls get done what needs done and gets the ball rolling.
but it seems as if everyone is waiting for someone else to actually make -the- stand before they commit.
meanwhile our rights continue to be stripped away...
and we continue to bitch about gas prices....
anyone remember the boston tea party?
how about the american revolution?
ring any bells?
thought not.

Yep, we put up with a lot less crap from Britain than we're putting up with now. As long as the beer is flowing and the sports are showing, the majority of Americans don't care. More people vote for American Idol than in the presidential race. Bread and Circuses. Cut off NFL and then you'll see some riots.
Yes, we do need another "tea party". Any suggestions as to what might actually help break the grip of the Money Changers?

I think that American Idol voting is more logical and responsible than any election our Government has.
and.....Ya know what.... seeing 50 thousand signs for someone doesn't make me want to vote for them... it makes me get on my knees in the morning and pray to what ever is making that noise in my attic that it will come down and go to your house and eat you from the toes up.... then it will fly to where/who ever made the signs... and it will eat them... after it shits it will then fly and eat that fucking candidate that the sign was made for....... that's what I pray for.... that and winning powerball tickets... but that thing in my attic really can't do anything about that.....
so who doesn't need anymore coffee

It was probably alot easier to be a patriot back in the days of the boston tea party....the "enemy" was thousands of miles away across the atlantic ocean, and the colonists all had guns and werent afraid to use them.
These days, even the mere suggestion of revolution, violent or otherwise, will land you on the terrorist watch list. Even if Americans got to the point of taking up arms against their own government, it would be a short lived struggle...a few disorganized rebels with shotguns against tanks, M-16's, and fighter jets.
Our mistake was trusting the government to begin with. We let them tell us where we can or cant smoke, because we believed they had our best interests in mind. Then we let them decide that trans-fats are bad for us, so they tell us what we can or cant eat, because once again we believed they had our best interests in mind. Then they decide that we all have to change to a specific kind of light bulb, and we go along with it because we think its actually an environmental issue. Now we all have to switch to a different kind of TV within the next few years, because the government has tricked us into thinking that digital is the way to go. And I read a few days ago that in California, the legislature is considering a ban on high fructose corn syrup.
This is a textbook example of how to become a totalitarian society, a police state where the people have no freedoms. They act like they're doing us a favor....saying its good for your health or good for the environment or good for the economy. They trick us into thinking we're getting something good in return for giving up a specific right. This is how it always starts....with a few small decisions concerning things like trans-fats and cigarettes and incandescent bulbs...but before you know it, they'll worm their way into every aspect of our lives. It's exactly how Hitler and Stalin and Castro and every other dictator got control...tricking the people into thinking that they "care", which is just a guise to get you to give up your rights without any scrutiny.
Today they tell us what we can eat, where we can smoke and how to illuminate our homes...and tomorrow it will be what books we can read and what films we can watch. And by the time the public comes to their senses and sees the wool being pulled over our eyes, it'll be too late, because theyve already taken away our guns. This is exactly what the second amendment was designed for; our forefathers were smart enough to realize that a well-armed citizenry keeps the government in check.

and unfortunately when "the line" is finally crossed and the true patriots we have left actually do stand up to defend the constitution they will be conviently labelled "domestic terrorists" and the average citizen will just watch them go down on the news after watching american idol.
this country is gasping it's last breath and deservedly so.
that's why i live in sayten's attic my own little world.

What is considered a "True Patriot?" As a domestic goddess, I would just like to clarify so I know if I need to change the name on my license in the future. As I am an average citizen also, I am not sure what the hell I am supposed to be watching on TV. I hate American Idol....what are my options? How about Sponge Bob?
P.S. I am also not a big fan of Bush so if Dick ran for President does that mean I would vote for him? I need some direction...according to the above post I cannot think for myself.
Sincerely, The Average Citizen (minus the american idol)

Remember, remember the Fifth of November, The Gunpowder Treason and Plot, I know of no reason Why Gunpowder Treason Should ever be forgot. Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent To blow up King and Parli'ment. Three-score barrels of powder below To prove old England's overthrow; By God's providence he was catch'd With a dark lantern and burning match. Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring. Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
