Anyone who knows me knows that I'm an avid trout fisherman and have been my entire life.
However, with each passing year I begin to get more and more pissed off at the PFBC. It seems the price of fishing licenses go up every year, and it also seems that each year there are fewer and fewer places to go fishing.
All the spots I've frequented since I was a little kid are all posted with "no trespassing" and "private property" signs. Just the other day I was up north looking for a spot along Loyalsock Creek....the damn creek is 63 miles long and I only found about 4 access points that werent posted, and naturally every toothless hillbilly with a pickup truck and his common-law wife were out fishing that day, so I spent the better part of my morning jockeying for position with a bunch of rednecks wearing Git-R-Done hats and John Deere shirts just to find a spot to fish.
And state parks aren't much better, since theyre jam packed with suburbanites and their families who cant tell the difference between a rock bass and a brook trout.
The joy of fishing is getting AWAY from people, not standing next to a flock of rednecks and dodging wayward fishing lures and Pabst Blue Ribbon cans.
I say that the PFBC should refuse to stock any creek or stream unless at least 50% of its length is on public land. If you bought a fishing license, you should be pissed that the money is going towards stocking waterways that the average outdoorsman doesn't have access to.
As a conservative republican I'm all for private property rights, but at this rate it wont be long until the only way you'll be able to fish is if you own property that borders these streams. I respect the rights of landowners, however I think its bullshit that I have to pay more every year for a fishing license and all I get in return are fewer places to fish.
If there are any other anglers out there, I'd be interested in hearing their opinion.
