The food and drinks are overpriced for what you get. They don't know how to top off a beer. The Men's room is a pit. The beer tap lines were bad, 4 people at the bar asked for new beers (including me) while I was waiting to be seated, not everone at the bar was from my party. They just replaced Yuengling Lager with Bud Light. !? I can only imagine the price of the microbrew but did not ask since the basic beer was $2.75. Once seated, one person at my table sent a coke back because it was flat. The chips with a sandwich last about halfway through (or add 1.50 for fries - making that 7.50, a $9.00 sandwich; then add a drink in. The parking meter you had to pay to park. 18% Mandatory tip for 7 people. The bill with tax was about 80 bucks. Perhaps I haven't been to out to lunch in a while but, sorry - there was no value. But I certainly felt important being there.
Kokomo's 'downtown' is much much better. Be 'Fore Warned' though, Kokomo's on Linglestown Rd is not as good as the downtown.

I couldn't agree more that Garrisons is way over priced. The juke box certainly could use a bit of an update as well. And has anyone ever noticed that it is always about 200 degrees in the bar area?

I went to this place today, I'll never go back.
Yeah, I agree the beer is overpriced, it had a funny taste too.
I ordered cheese fries, what a joke. The cheese on the fries is 3 half slices of processed american cheese put in the microwave, not what I expected, it was cold in a minute or so, so I had fries 'stuck together with cold cheese' in about 2 minutes.
People at our table were joking that they were done with their chips that came with the sandwich and that they had only taken around three bites of their sandwich.
When I told the bartender that I ordered a cheeseburger she said I ordered a tavern burger. I tried to correct her, but it was of no use; can you say bitch? I think she's the main bartender too.
Oh well, I won't back. We had a party of seven; isn't the industry standard for 18% tip a minimum of 8 persons.
Can one refuse to pay the 18%, I don't know, we wouldn't have.

Give it a shot now...
The place is currently under new ownership as of about 2 months ago and the improvements are already coming along. Around the bar you'll find a few new flat screens. The digital jukebox will be installed within the next three weeks. The mens bathroom downstairs has been totally reworked into a pleasant area to conduct your "buisness". New waitresses on staff as well, although I don't typically dine there.
Saturday nights they usually have a prime rib special that comes with a side salad, roll and choice of potatoe. For 15 bucks, its just as filling and good as Outback, LoneStar, or Charlie Browns steakhouses.
Davis the bartender takes excellent care of the bar making sure everyone gets what they ask for and I've never had a bad beer there in the months that I've gone.. even under the old ownership.
I will agree that I think you pay alot for the items on the lunch menu, in comparison to the portions you get, and that it can be hot around the bar at times, but its usually only hot when the bar becomes standing room only...as it often does on Friday and Saturday nights.
For those of you that haven't been there since February, I STRONGLY suggest giving it another go.

Just a note about the tipping - "18% for a group of 8". Restaurants only add that because too many humans didn't tip properly. A lot of us have experieced it as restaurant workers. My theory is tip for the service rendered, but don't blame the waitress for bad kitchen performance. If they hustle - 20% is actually a better standard. If they suck, then 10-15% would suffice.
