Since this is a big topic in Iowa right now, I would like to see what YOU would suggest as a possible solution. I would like to try and keep this as your views, and not a cut and paste of a candidates views. I am sure this will get debated and some flames, so be prepared to back up your plan.

1. Finish the fence along the border
2. Stop calling illegals, "undocumented"
3. Go through the prison system and round up and deport all illegals back to their country.
4. Enforce the current laws (labor, etc.)
5. Force anyone in this country illegally to register either thru the federal or state governments for a temporary Visa type status. No BS either 6-12 months time line. If they don't register and are caught they get sent back, no questions asked.
6. Set up a temp. worker program that would only allow registered illegals to work. Workers under this program will pay an extra tax that will help fund for additional resources needed to fix the mess they created.
7. Run through all public assistance programs and cut off illegals.
8. If illegals have children born in this country, doesn't mean they get a free ride. Being illegal and then having a kid does not make them legal.
9. If they want to be part of this country, they can apply to be a citizen and wait their turn. Meanwhile they can start to learn English.
10. If any illegal breaks the law, they and their WHOLE family gets sent back to their country.
In case you didn't hear the Democrats are trying to stop the fence from being built. Seems were it was put up, it is actually working. Imagine that!!!

actually I like your ideas Big Jim..... Thank you. Once I get all of these skeltons out of the closet, I'll throw my hat in for 2012. If elected I will throw a nationwide Jagermeister party. In fact I'll make it a paid holiday, so everyone can take part in the celebration!

I more or less agree with Jim on this one as well. Number 10 is a little tricky. If you are a guest worker in our country, I don't see why your family would come with you. Americans working on the reconstruction in Iraq most likely do not take their families with them. When American businessmen travel abroad for work, they do not generally speaking take their families with them. If you are a guest worker, you and only you should be in our country during the term of your employment. If your family wants to come and visit that is fine, but not indefinitely.
To me it seems very obvious that only American citizens should be benefiting from government programs. I'm not sure how illegals got access to these benefits in the first place.
The problem with simply deporting all of the illegals incarcerated in our prison system is that our borders are porous and they could easily get right back in. Securing the borders should minimize this effect, and make this a plausible option.
I vehemently disagree that "We the people of the United States" simply refers to anyone that is able to, by hook or crook, make their way into our country. I certainly don't think that this was our founding fathers' intention. In my opinion, "We the people" refers to US citizens. Anyone should be able to become a citizen so long as they go through the proper channels. Most of us are of European decent, and all of our ancestors had to wait in line at Ellis Island in order to become citizens. I don't see why suddenly things should be any different 50 years later. Fill out the form...pass the test...and wait your turn like everyone else.
I also agree with the "learn English" point. It's our official language. People don't go to France and expect the locals to speak Spanish to them. I wouldn't move to another country without knowing the native tongue. We need to stop being so accommodating. You have to speak English to go to college here, I don't see why it is such a leap that you should have to speak English to live here either.
Lastly, illegal workers should absolutely 100% pay taxes so long as every other legal worker is required to do so.

These pricks start with one and then before you know it the whole family is in this country.
NOTHING can be done unless we have a fence to secure the borders first. If we can dig a ditch thru Panama, we can build a god damn fence across our border.
Here's another idea to get it built faster. In the 80's I was unemployed and "forced" to work at UPS until called back. Worst fuckin job I ever had. UPS took advantage of us because we didn't belong to the union. If you walked off, the state would stop your benefits. So any unemployed or public assistance male or female within 75 miles of that fence being built will be there to work on it.
Illegals get on the assistance programs because our public officials allow it. If by law they can't work because of being in here illegally, then why in the fuck do we put them on assistance programs. That is a disgrace to the American citizen who can't even count on it's government to abide by it's own laws.
As I stated before, this country is turning into a bunch of pussy's!!! We need elected officials that will stand up and do what's right. Not what some opinion poll say's or future political gain will render.

Illegals get on the assistance programs because our public officials allow it. huckabee's scholarship for illegals program in arkansas is a fine example of this. companies that employ undocumented illegals should be prosecuted and fined too, they're a big part of the problem.

My Thoughts: 1) Heavy fines for companies caught hiring or paying illegals. 2) Quit all this Bi-lingual education crap. The money this is costing taxpayers is incredible. There is no farking reason a school nurse, teacher, principal, or janitor should have to know spanish to work in an American school. 3) Make heavy fines for any company that uses computerized telephone answering sytems that start their answer with "If you'd like to proceed in English, Press 1 now ..." 4) Finish the fence. Close the border. 5) I agree with Jim about if 1 gets busted, the whole family goes ... They are very similar to cockroaches in that fashion. If you see one, there has to be another hundred hiding somewhere nearby. 6) No emergency medical help for them, their kids, etc.... One of the major problems facing hospitals today is the use of emergency rooms for non-emergencies becasue of un-insured people. i'm not saying all of these are illegals, but if they were kept out, there would be more resources available for those who aren't illegal. This may sound harsh, but talk to an ER staff member about it and you'll get a clearer picture. 7) I always hear the debates when Deer season starts that the reason hunting is important is to control the deer population. Why not have "Illegal Season", that way the ones that survive will find it easier to find food. And maybe their way back home.
4)

There would have to be a lottery... and then you would also have poachers... (me)

However, they would look cool strapped to the hood of trucks with their tongues sticking out. Take them over to the Press and Journal in Middletown and get your picture taken with your kill for the "Big Illegal" contest!
