anyone into it? done any research on it? I've done quite a bit of reading on the subjects, if you want to bang around some facts and philosophies over which we actually have immediate control

This lady up the street makes "homemade" icy-hot for me. That is about all I know. I do not take pills. I usually meditate to try to heal. I just do not like taking shit. It is not that I am super religious or anything.
Pressure point stuff seems to work best for me (like car sickness and such).

....was also watching "Oprah" about a month ago (comes on after Dr. Phil around here...I am beginning to love that guy's show), and she had on Dr. Oz. He was showing the difference between two level 4 cancer patients: one used all natural healing methods and the other used medicinal/surgical methods. The one using all natural stuff was in remission and the other guy was getting worse.......plus he also showed a family where the guy lost 60 pounds, got rid of his diabetes, unclogged his arteries by doing some simple and effective things (al natural). Mostly they consisted of changing eating patterns and foods, exercise, and elimination of stress...........this coincides with a lot of stuff I have been reading and attempting to implement into our family's lives........

speaking of: (I'm sure you see stories like this all the time, but half of you (i.e. 1) probably don't pay attention....so I'll start posting stuff I find under this thread and let's see what we come up with in a few months.....before we lose our home and half of what we own.....at least I'll be a healthy "under the bridge dweller") news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20071219/hl_afp/healthjapancancerdrinkGreen tea may halve prostate cancer risk: Japanese study Wed Dec 19, 2:57 AM ET TOKYO (AFP) - Drinking five or more cups of green tea a day could halve the risks of developing advanced prostate cancer, according to a Japanese study published Wednesday. A research team from Japan's health ministry surveyed 49,920 men aged 40-69 across the nation in 1990 and 1993 and followed up on their health until 2004, the National Cancer Centre said. During this time, 404 men were newly diagnosed with prostate cancer, of whom 114 had advanced cases, 271 were localised, and 19 were of an undetermined stage. An analysis found the risks of having advanced prostate cancer was 50 percent lower for men who drink five or more cups of green tea a day compared with those who have less than one cup, the study said. "Green tea was not associated with localised prostate cancer," the research group said in a report. But it added: "Green tea may be associated with a decreased risk of advanced prostate cancer." The research team said a substance called catechin in green tea may be contributing to reducing risks by curbing levels of testosterone, a male hormone seen as a risk factor to prostate cancer. The incidence of prostate cancer is much lower in Asian than Western populations. The study began on the assumption that this may be linked to the high consumption of green tea in Asian populations. The findings were published in the online version of the American Journal of Epidemiology

my girlfriend is into this stuff. she's got an ebay store that sells somewhat related things: www.themagicisinyou.comlike mickulz, I don't really like taking stuff either. if I have a really bad headache I might take some tylenol or I might take some mucinex if I have a really bad cold, that's about it. not a religious thing for me either, I think if you take stuff too often you build up a resistance to it. similarly, the over-prescription of antibiotics has led to super resistant strains of microorganisms. that's bad news!

...consistent with what I am reading: news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071219/hl_nm/dairy_childhood_dc High dairy in childhood linked with cancer risk Wed Dec 19, 3:43 PM ET NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Children who consume high levels of diary products may have a greater risk of developing colorectal cancer in adulthood, study findings suggest. Among nearly 5,000 individuals followed for an average of 65 years, those who grew up in families reporting the highest levels of dairy consumption -- nearly 2 cups per day -- had close to three-times the risk of colorectal cancer compared with those from families reporting the lowest intake, Dr. Jolieke C. van der Pols and colleagues report. The level of milk consumption in the high-diary group was similar to the estimated average daily intake of children in the United States, van der Pols, of the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, and colleagues noted. Links between colorectal cancer risk and childhood exposure to dairy products have not been previously evaluated, the researchers said. Using data from a study of weekly food consumption in families living in England or Scotland from 1937 to 1939, the researchers estimated the daily dairy intake ranged from less than half a cup at the lowest to nearly 2 cups at the highest. Nearly all, 94 percent, of the diary produces came from drinking milk, they report in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Among the 4,374 individuals still available for follow-up between 1948 and 2005, the investigators identified 35 registrations and 41 deaths from colorectal cancer. An increased risk of colorectal cancer among those who consumed the highest amounts of dairy during childhood was still seen after the investigators adjusted the data for potentially influential factors such as meat, fruit, and vegetable consumption; and socioeconomic status. However, van der Pols' group cautions that more complete life-course assessments comparing dairy intake with related dietary and lifestyle factors must be completed before definitive conclusions can be made for dairy intake in childhood.
