 Bridges And A Bottle has landed in the top 15 in an online contest that will determine the opening act for Coldplay’s tour stop in Philadelphia. Bridges’ video for “Promise” is one of 15 band-submitted videos (selected from over 400) that fans can vote for on Philadelphia radio station WMMR’s Web site. In an effort to support local original music for their “Viva La Vida” world tour, the members of Coldplay will then judge the three videos that receive the most votes, and grant the winner a 20-minute opening slot before their performance at the Wachovia Center July 25. The deadline for fan voting is Thursday, July 10. VOTE FOR “PROMISE" AT: www.coldplayontour.com/wmmrThe band achieved regional success with 2006’s Trojan Horse E.P., which spawned the hit single “Still Standing.” The track received heavy airplay on radio stations across central Pennsylvania, and it was the fifth most played song of 2006 on WMRF, ranking ahead of artists like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nickelback. The track’s unexpected popularity prompted Rocco Pallotto, music director at WMRF, to hail Bridges as “the next big band to make it out of Pennsylvania,” following the likes of multi-platinum rockers Live, Fuel and Breaking Benjamin. The band was also featured on XM Satellite Radio Channel 43 XMU, where they were selected out of 500 submissions for airplay. “18” and “Still Standing” were programmed into rotation. Bridges – led by brothers Justin and Adam Smith and guitarist Tyler Adkins – is currently in the studio with producer Rich Keller working on their third album. The band is also prepping the release of Midnight Sessions Live, a unique, self-produced DVD that is due at the end of the summer. I voted. Now leave me alone. I got 3 f-ing e-mails about this today. So how much did their daddy pay to get this done? Maybe Coldplay could open for them, so they can really get the idea that image is more important than music through their heads a little more.
I've seen them, heard them, and went outside to get high. The crickets have more imagination. My dog plays better guitar. And he dresses better. 'Specially when he's licking his nuts.

When all was said and done BAAB had over 5,000 votes and over 1,000 more than the band in 2nd. Now it's up to Coldplay..how could they not pick the band with the most votes? There is an interesting article/blog/whatever about the deal Capitol Records has with all this Open for Coldplay (Don't Get To Excited yet boys) thing but it's still a contest they've win not being from Philly and on WMMR. Last time something like that happenned the Sharks won MTV's Basement Tapes and an Elektra Records deal in 1985 and put Lancaster on the map for a week.
