Once again politicians are acting like the care about the average Joe by investigating the latest gas price surge. Of course they will find the same thing in that nothing is wrong except a supply demand type thing.
Perhaps this time they should look at the amount of taxes (federal and state) that are paid on a gallon of gas. Next they should look at what their mandates have done to a gallon of gas too.
One of my customers used to work at a refinery in New Jersey. He said the big problem that is never reported is all the "batches" that need to be made. PA gas is a different make up then CA gas. etc., etc. Plus we have 3 grades of each. He stated that if someone (politicians) grew a set of balls and eliminated each states ability to pass laws on their gas mix, prices would go down. He also stated that when "cooking" a batch of gas Jet fuel rises to the top, then the other grades are made. It would be easier to have a high grade (90+ octane) that could be sold less than regular if that was the only grade available. One grade for everyone, would knock the prices down a lot.
Big oil is not the problem. Politicians, both state and federal levels, have more to do with higher gas prices.

Lets not forget that lots of higher up Politician's family money also comes from that industry so why would they really care as we get more poor and they get richer!

As an industry, oil companies make about 7% profit on the dollar. Telecom and others make close to 20%.
I just heard we have a large oil field off the coast of Florida that because of the enviromental nutcases we can't drill. Guess who is going to drill for the oil? Cuba!!!! The USA has lots of potential oil fields that are left alone because of these nutcases.
As I said before, when are these guys going to grow a set of nuts and do what's right and not what's politically correct.
While we're at it, let's start getting paid back from these towel heads that we protect. Kuwait owes us big time. Iraq could trade oil for the BILLIONS we are sinking in to rebuilding their country.
